The second week of "WePerform - Music and Theater" events (XNUMXnd edition)

The Western University of Timișoara Foundation, in partnership with the Faculty of Music and Theater at UVT, organizes a series of seven events within the project "At UVT, Culture is the Capital!", entitled "WePerform - Music and Theater Evenings" ”, 2023nd edition. The project is part of the "Timișoara XNUMX - European Capital of Culture" Cultural Program, Oameni territory, Reflectiņi station and is financed by the Municipality of Timișoara through the Project Center.

In the second week of events within the "WePerform - Evenings of music and theater" project, we invite you today, June 21, 2022, to a piano and flute recital, entitled "FIREWORKS", which will take place in the Square Liberty, from 20 p.m.

Reference works created by composers N. Kapustin, F. Chopin, WA Mozart, L. van Beethoven and others will be presented from the piano repertoire. In the second part of the recital, the "Flautissimo" ensemble, created at the initiative of teacher and soloist Matei Ioachimescu, consisting of 6 young Romanians, proposes a unique cultural event in Romania that promotes contemporary cult music, in a new instrumental formula: a set of flutes, which includes the whole family of modern flutes, from the bass flute to the piculina. The program that this mini-orchestra will present to the public is designed under the sign of virtuosity, from classical music to the chords of film music.

On June 22, from 20 p.m., we invite you to a reinterpretation of the history of the musical, in an eclectic and atypical event, which combines duets, trios and arias, with a choreographic offer in which ballet enters into dialogue with contemporary dance. Their representation makes an organic and effervescent transition through a series of key moments in the history of musicals such as: "The Sound of Music", "The spoon full of sugar", Phantom of the Opera, "I Feel Pretty - West Side Story", The Hunchback of Notre Dames, etc.

The event will take place on a classic stage, with specific graphics, located in Piața Libertății.

This week we end it on Friday, June 24, from 20:00 p.m., in Dacia Park, with a show called "Actors' Comedy", an improvisational theater made by first-year undergraduate students. This performance, which stands under the sign of the inspiration of the moment, represents how young actors interact with the audience in pantomime scenes, with music and dance. Beyond the artistic act, the play is seen as a pretext for opening a dialogue about the importance of laughter in the health of society, between student actors and students of philosophy and psychology. The dialogue precedes the actors' performance and has as its starting point the book "Theory of Laughter", written by Henri Bergson, and will have a series of landmark questions: What makes us laugh? Is laughter a means of interaction between people who don't know each other? What is there to laugh about? Can one laugh in sad times?

Coordinator: assistant. university Dr. Costa Tovarnisky and Asst. university Dr. Mirela Puia.

All "WePerform" performances are preceded by workshops that will start at 18 p.m. In these workshops, both children and adults will have the opportunity to come into contact with different musical instruments, they will have a workshop of singing or acting, performed by the students and teachers of the Faculty of Music and Theater from Timișoara, or they will be able to paint with the team of the Faculty of Arts and Design.

In the "Artist Talk" that will take place at the end of the concerts, you are invited to interact with the artists, who are happy to answer questions and interact with the audience.
