The Universitas Timisiensis Union
The “Universitas Timisiensis” Union is a democratically constituted organization based on the free consent of its members. It is politically neutral, it is independent, and undertakes activities
which are specific to unions, as well as other activities in the interest of its members.
The union was set up according to the stipulations of the International Labour Organization, of Law 54/1991, and of the Constitution of Romania. The “Universitas Timisiensis” Union is intended to promote and defend the rights and interests of its members so that they may accomplish their personal aspirations. The union organizes and carries out its activities in conformity with the following principles:
a) The promotion of fundamental human rights;
b) The right of higher education employees and researchers to set up professional unions, territorial unions, etc in order to defend and promote their legitimate rights and interests;
c) The promotion of national and international cooperation and solidarity with other unions in order to achieve the ideals of social justice and progress, in accordance with democratic and moral principles.
The “Universitas Timisiensis” Union is an independent strictly professional organization whose members joined in voluntarily by written adhesion. It includes researchers, teaching, auxiliary teaching, and non-teaching staff members irrespective of their qualifications, academic rank, nationality, political convictions, religion, sex, and age.
Our Union was registered at the Register of Juridical Persons, Timişoara Law Court, as the representative organization of the employees of The West University of Timişoara, with juridical personality. It was called Universitas Timisiensis by sentence 334/PJ/30.05.2001. The Union has 614 members and is affiliated to FNS Alma Mater.
